Exciting News For Cartoon Fans

Young Justice, Clone Wars, and more

Over the past few days, I have received several pieces of exciting news regarding some of my favorite TV shows. In this post, I will be briefly describing these shows and the announcements surrounding them. We will be looking at news about Young Justice, The Clone Wars, and a new series: Dragon Prince. As a quick note before we begin, you might notice is that these are all cartoons. I like cartoons (and probably will forever). They provide a storytelling mode that is not feasible for live action shows due to the fact that cartoons are not limited by special effects budgets. Anyway, let’s get started.

Young Justice Season 3

Young Justice is one of my all-time favorite shows and probably my favorite superhero cartoon. I like Young Justice because, unlike some older superhero shows, the characters show a measure of intelligence. There is a well-developed plot with strong build-up and interesting twists. There is marked character growth. There is a good balance between action and non-action. The characters are relatable. In short, I really enjoy Young Justice and strongly recommend it.

With that in mind, you can understand why I was disappointed, after finishing Season 2, to learn that the show had been canceled. I heard about fan efforts to revive it, but saw no real evidence that it was working. Then, one of my friends sent me this. It is trailer for Young Justice Season 3: Outsiders (well, everything after the first 3 minutes anyway). It shows the return of several characters, as well as some of the aftereffects of the end of Season 2 (such as metahuman trafficking now that the meta-gene had been activated in several humans by reach experiments).

There is no official release date.

My Fears about the new season

  • It will be exclusively on DC’s new streaming service and not on Netflix

  • It will not be as well-written as the first two seasons (i.e. I am afraid it will be a money-grab to take advantage of the fan base)

Dragon Prince

Although it was announced a while ago, I only heard about this series earlier this week. Dragon Prince is a Netflix original written by the creator of Avatar: The Last Airbender. Avatar was another one of my favorite shows, and I was greatly disappointed when it was removed from Amazon Prime. Then when I heard that the creator was working on a new series, I was ecstatic. The trailer revealed just enough to whet my appetite. So far, it is know that the story will revolve around two princes, an elfin assassin, and two warring kingdoms (probably elves vs. humans). Obviously, a dragon (or maybe dragons) is involved.

The animation style looks interesting, and, based on the trailer, it looks like there will be some measure of magic involved in the story (which is always cool).

Netflix says all episodes will be available on September 14.

Clone Wars Season 7

Disney has announced that they will finally continue the Clone Wars series. I never saw the whole series (only parts), but I heard good things about it. In preparation for the new season, I intend to watch all of the currently released episodes.

Unfortunately, it looks like this season will only be available on Disney’s streaming service. This disappoints me, but I still plan on watching the currently released episodes because, like I said earlier, I’ve heard good things about it.

There you have it. You now know a little bit more about my entertainment interests, and maybe have started to become frustrated by all the companies making new streaming services.
